The Lithuanian Center for Social Sciences continues its cooperation with NATO’s North-East Corps Headquarters, which began in 2016. The LCSS is constantly invited to participate in various events of the organization in Lithuania and foreign countries. On September 26, 2024, LCSS chief researcher Donatas Burneika participated in 25th anniversary events in Szczecin, the Republic of Poland, where its headquarters are located.
On the occasion of the anniversary, an exhibition of NATO military equipment was organized, and an army parade was held. Various military equipment was demonstrated, including the Himars systems, currently actively used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the event, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, together with the German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius, representatives of Poland and Denmark, signed a letter of intent on the negotiations, by which Lithuania will seek to become the fourth main country of this corps at the headquarters of the international North-Eastern Corps.
In the evening, participants from various NATO countries took part in the events at the Szczecin Philharmonic, where a symphony orchestra concert and a reception for the guests of the anniversary were held.
