Mission

The mission of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences is to create and disseminate high-level scientific knowledge in the fields of economics, sociology and law in order to implement public policy solutions and innovations based on them, strengthening the cohesion of science, business and society.

Vision

The Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences is a reliable link between modern science and efficient public administration.

Criteria of reliability are high competencies of researchers, international recognition and constant and active contacts with public administration institutions and international organizations.

History

The Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences (LCSS) was established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in November 11 2020 by resolution No. 1260 “On the Reorganization of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Research, the Lithuanian Institute of Law and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics, the Description of the Conditions of Reorganization of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Research, the Lithuanian Institute of Law and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics into the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences and approval of the Statute of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences”.

On January 1 2021 LCSS took over all the rights and responsibilities of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Research, the Lithuanian Institute of Law and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics.
